Tamara Steinborn (she/her)
200 hrs RYT Yoga Alliance certified
Tamara has been teaching yoga for 15 years. She was initially drawn to yoga and meditation when she found out that she needed to have open heart surgery to correct a congenital heart defect. She wanted to develop a practice to see her through the surgery and the recovery. She became certified a year before the surgery and attributes her rapid recovery to her yoga practice. The study of yoga, and in particular breathwork and meditation, not only helped her through this life changing experience, but also guided her through daily life as a busy entrepreneur who often navigates highly stressful situations.
Tamara strives to create an inviting, inclusive and calm class environment in order to provide grounding and support for your yoga experience. She brings a sense of compassion and calmness to her classes and strives to share her knowledge of how yoga and meditation can help promote wellbeing. Currently she is focussed on leading gong meditation and sound baths. This modality offers students who are new to meditation a way to relax, as the nurturing vibrations of sound to ground and sooth the body, allowing the chatter in the mind to slowly fall away. As someone who has always struggled with anxiety, she finds that the calm created by sound baths allows for relief from anxiety, enabling her to more easily enter into a meditative state. Being able to offer this to students brings her great joy.
When she is not teaching, she runs two businesses - as a retailer she owns Kindred Shop + Studio with locations in Ottawa and Picton, and as a jewellery metalsmith.
Areas of interest & training include Every Body Yoga, Yin, Restorative, Kundalini, Hatha, Power Yoga, Yoga for Menopause, Meditation & Mantra and Soundbath. She has also completed Can Fit Pro Personal training.

I’ve taken Tamara’s kundalini class at Prana Shanti Yoga. She offered a very calm and grounding experience and I would definitely take her class again.

I took a Full Moon Yoga class with Tamara a few years ago and it was magical. It was at night, the ambience was great and the yoga was gentle and accessible for my body. She also did a meditation for setting intentions which really hit home for me.

During the early days of the lockdown in 2020, I had the great pleasure of participating in a group co-facilitated by Tamara. One aspect of this wonderfully healing virtual group was Tamara’s weekly grounding activities. She is an excellent leader of meditation, breath-work and grounding exercises. She has a calm, yet confident tone, and her voice is soothing and easy to follow.

I like Tamara's easy going style and she’s not afraid of laughing and making you feel comfortable. I’m not bendy and she never made me feel awkward. She’s very patient. I would recommend her yoga for anyone who is nervous about doing it the first time.
